Why You Should Take Up A Physical Hobby

Posted on October 22, 2010 by Shaunna

The working day is getting gradually longer and more of us are forced to work a greater number of days in the week In fact, it is not uncommon to finish work late and then continue work at home. You should try to avoid this situation if possible. Draw a line between your working life and your home life and only work late or from home when it is absolutely necessary. The stress of longer days and longer weeks means that people not only have less time to unwind but that we also suffer from stress, depression and other illnesses more often. Taking up a physical hobby or pastime is a great way to combat illness and wind down after or prepare for work. Make a little time in your schedule on a regular basis to do some exercise. It is recommended that you exercise every day or two and if possible you should stick to this. A daily routine is the easiest to adopt, although it isn t always feasible to spend a certain amount of time every single day exercising. However, even half an hour a day can really benefit your physical and your mental health. Exercise helps to burn off energy as well as fat...

Circadian Rhythms Disorders And Sleep Phase Syndrome

Posted on July 5, 2010 by Johna

Sleep forms part of human s biological need to rest. As a person sleeps, the various physiological processes of a human body figuratively put into an apparent arrest and some parts of our system that were mostly exploited can be replenished for future use. However, imagine a system so disrupted that our normal scheduling for sleeping and waking is totally altered. Some people tend to sleep early and wake up early in the morning and some cannot sleep early and as a consequence, wakes up late. These and other sleep-related problems are manifestations of a malfunctioning biological circadian clock and characterize several forms of Circadian Rhythm Syndrome. Circadian activity is a unique by 24-hour period or cycles in which our body is physically patterned. 25-hour cycle Earth rotates around the sun in a 24-hour cycle, so as our body functions in this 24-hour time schedule. All living organisms charismatically subscribe to this cyclic resting and activity patterns so that their body could function in sync with the environment in which they live. Although humans externally operate under a...

Are Free Grants Really Free?

Posted on May 4, 2010 by Arielle

The short answer to this simple but fantastic question is that yes, free grants do in fact come at no cost to the recipient. That does not mean that there are no strings attached but we will talk about that later. First we need to get the basic concepts down first so that you can understand why the government is willing to hand out these monetary offerings to it s citizens. How does the government make its money. That s right taxes. Taxes on property and income are the major money makers for good old Uncle Sam. So the government in order to make money has to have citizens who number one make money and number two own property. We all know that the only way to make money is to have money, so it makes sense that the government would want to provide this impetus money in the form of free grants to people in relatively small amounts, in hopes that people will turn this into large amounts of profit. If this happens everybody wins. So the only stipulation for eligibility for these free grants is that they will be used in specified ways that will create revenue for the recipient and in so doing...

The Great Battle At Slivnitza!

Posted on December 27, 2009 by Liliana

In Arms and the Man George Bernard Shaw doesn t get hung up on facts. After watching Arms and the Man at the Shaw Festival, I researched the history of the 1885 Serbo-Bulgarian War and I was rather shocked to learn how George Bernard Shaw s creative license almost completely eclipses the truth in the matter... Of course, the play is a comedy, not a historical documentary, but did he have to change so much. Early in Act One Catherine tells her daughter Raina about the recent battle at Slivnitza. She extols Sergius and his magnificent cavalry charge, CATHERINE with surging enthusiasm You can t guess how splendid it is. A cavalry charge. Think of that. He defied our Russian commanders--acted without orders--led a charge on his own responsibility. Well, truthfully, in that particular conflict there were no Russian generals commanding any Bulgarian troops. Political events in Bulgaria relating to the breakup of the Ottoman Empire had forced the complete withdrawal of all Russian military support one year earlier, and now the Russians refused to support the Bulgars in their war with Serbia, and...
